Courses in 2020/2021

We intend to run these courses once the coronavirus situation is ok
and safe for the course to operate.

1. Beekeeping for Beginners’ Course

At present we plan to begin the course on Wednesday 9th September 2020 at Uplowman Village Hall at 7.30pm- 9.30pm. This will be the first of seven theory sessions ending in December 2020. This will be followed by eight practical sessions at the club’s Knightshayes Apiary between April and September 2021.

If this is unable to run due to the coronavirus situation, we have a contingency plan booked to operate the seven theory sessions at Uplowman Village Hall between 6th January and 24th March 2021 followed by the practical sessions as above.

This course is intended for those with little or no knowledge or experience of beekeeping. The course covers all aspects of beekeeping including the life and behaviour of the honey bee, the beekeeper’s year, managing a colony of bees, necessary equipment including clothing and hive equipment.

Cost £90 – payable in two instalments, £45 with the enrolment form and £45 in November. (This includes Registered Membership of the British Beekeepers’ Association – worth £37)

2. Improvers’ Course

This course offers the opportunity for people who have kept bees for at least two years to improve their skills and knowledge of beekeeping.

The course consists of 5 sessions.
