- One Queen Bee
- 50-60,000 female worker bees in the summer.
- 200+ drones (male) bees in summer
- One lower box called a “brood box” where the queen lays her eggs and the bees emerge.
- Shallower boxes above the brood box which are called “supers” where the bees store their honey. These are added over the spring and summer by the beekeeper and there may be up to 4. It is only from these supers that beekeepers may harvest some honey.
